Ummah-Design.com Team is pleased to announce the launch of Markaz At-Tawheed’s official site (www.markaztawheed.co.uk). Markaz At-Tawheed was established in early 2009 to provide beneficial Islamic knowledge and services to the local community. Because Markaz At-Tawheed operates under the supervision of At-Tawheed foundation and At-Tawheed foundation is a non-profit and charitable da’wah organisation, we did this site for them fiysabilillah Inshallah.

We provided them with a CMS database driven website, a simple, accessible and slightly grungy design plus hosting.

Sobhanallah many muslims might say “Why Grungy?”  How could torn edges, dirty stains on backgrounds, rough textures and “broken” icons be attractive?

Well the fact of the matter is that some people in the design industry may actually say that the perfect, shiny glossy look is now officially out dated and maybe unfortunately for some but this grungy look seems to be rapidly gaining popularity day after day. One of many reasons is probably because its more realistic, because at the end of the day we’re not living in an ideal world, the glossy effects and perfect geometric forms you get in the amazing web 2.0 designs just aren’t REAL.

So in the grungy look you see the designer exploring the less ideal and more realistic design solutions giving the design a more REAL and genuine look.

Anyway,  please visit the site on www.markaztawheed.co.uk and share your feedback and thoughts with us if you can.

Jazakallahu khayran.

Wassalamu alaykum.

    As’salamualaykum,

Me likes… Who says the urban look isn’t in?! On a purely aesthetic level both professional clean cut websites and torn down dark websites attract their appropriate niches successfully. While a pretty balanced layout and an easy interface is important, it’s always the readable & notable content that proves a website’s worth insha’allah.

http://www.muslimness.com <- Also neesd a make over. We ran out of face paints.

    Waalaykum assalam sister,

Well, that happened with couple of clients when we did urban look grungy designs and they found it strange and preferred a normal, glossy look. I agree with your point regarding the content.

What blog engine do you use for muslimness.com? I guess it is a Blogger. I personally prefer WordPress because of the vastness of plugins, addons, themes (free and paid ones) etc. as well as the amount of resources available for customising the wordpress blogs. Would you consider switching to wordpress? Are there any specific reasons you are sticking to Blogger?
