UD’s  Target:  200 signatures by 10-Nov-2011

We at Ummah-Design.Com have seriously decided to contribute to the campaign to free our innocent brother Babar Ahmad who was detained in the UK for 7 years without trial fighting extradition to the USA under the controversial no-evidence-required Extradition Act 2003.

An ePetition has been launched to gather 100,000 signatures by 10th November 2011, so that Babar Ahmad’s case can be discussed in UK Parliament. Mashallah, many Muslims have been doing everything they can do to get those 100 000 signature by 10/11/2011.

We have decided to join others and put ourselves an achievable (inshallah) target: 200 signatures.

Assalamu alaykum brothers & sisters,

This life has so many UPs & DOWNs and we go through so many trials and tribulations, subhanallah. When something bad happens to us we despair although Allah SWT says on the Quran that whatever bad thing happens to us could be good for us and vice versa. We don’t know. I remember reading one story. A man survived a shipwreck and was washed out to the island with some ship remnants including some food.

He then built a small shelter from the remnant shipwreck woods and started living there. Every morning he would go out and climb up the hills hoping to see sany passing by ships. On one of those days he went out again and when he came back he saw his shelter caught on fire. He could not take this loss and raised his hands up the sky and said “Oh Allah why do you do this to me??? What did I do to deserve this? You took away even this from me! Why me? Why?” and he fell asleep  after crying profusely for so long.

Suddenly, he woke up by sudden noise. To his amusement he saw a ship on the shore and people coming towards his burnt shelter. He was extremely happy and asked them how they had found him. They told him that they saw a smoke coming out this island and they decided to check it out and found him as a result. Do you see? He thought it was bad for him but turned out to be good. We never know what is best and what is worst for us. Allah SWT is Hakeem, He is All Wise and knows better what is good or bad for His servants. The bottom line is – have a positive and good thinking and never despair.  If you lost something then think of it as a beginning of something better, inshallah.

I have also come across this video on Youtube and thought I should share that with you too. Although it is not an Islamic talk or anything but gives you very good advice:

So dear brothers and sisters, never despair whenever calamity, misfortune or anything bad happens to you. Just remember the above story. Have a good thought about Allah and you will be fine inshallah.

A year ago we posted a blog post titled ‘15 Most Awesome Muslim Blogs’. When we originally did this our knowledge was quite limited to just how many REAL Awesome Blogs there were out there, but Alhamdulillah & Mashallah since then we were so overwhelmed with the response and comments from our brothers & sisters all over the world that we had to follow this up with a much needed ‘Most Awesome Muslim Blogs 2011’. And we hope to update this every year Inshallah with the most recent & most popular blogs of the time.

Included in this are all the brilliant blog links suggested to us in our readers comments, we found many of them breathtakingly amazing and a true inspiration. We thank and appreciate all who commented in our original post and hope to get twice as many comments on this one Inshallah.

I would like to take this opportunity to remind our readers that although we understand the majority of showcases normally concentrate just on the appearance, in this case we’d like to stress that although a few of our carefully picked blogs might not be that appealing to the eye compared to others, we found their efforts, content, idea and/or the popularity of the blog to be profoundly astonishing Mashallah and Allah SWT knows best.

We had to start this showcase with American Muslim Mom, this is one of ours and was a great pleasure to revamp. Its a great idea of a site & a much needed one in the society of today, may Allah reward their team immensely for enlightening us with their inspiring content amin.

Well, need I have to introduce Productive Muslim? I think I can safely say there shouldn’t be any doubt as to why this blog sits here among the most awesome blogs of 2011. This brother hasn’t only made it into the hearts of the adults but also the hearts of our youngsters biidthnilah. Reminding us all how to keep ourselves productive in every second of each and every day with the endless collection of tips & resources bursting out of this blog, his cool, fly logo does it in style. It was a true pleasure & inspiring experience working along side this brother to set up one of his projects Productive Ramadan in 2010.

I’ve only recently come across this one actually, and really glad I did. I think this is the blog of our sister Shirien ex-reporter & writer, author of the book ‘Aliya’s first Ramadan’ (which my daughter loooved) I say  “I think ” because there is no About page on this blog but the content is really good and well worth visiting for. Islamic Learning Materials (ILM) is brother Ismail’s attempt to make Islam more understandable to average English-speaking Muslims. OMG! I can’t believe I nearly forgot this one, how could I? Its simply scrumptious, I realise this is the second blog I’ve featured connecting to Morocco and I’m sure that the fact I’m Moroccan myself  doesn’t play any part in it Both the design & content are amusing in this one where sister Amanda shares the tastes & smells of her American Moroccan kitchen & family life. I particularly liked the colours used in the header, combining the blues with the red & yellow is really authentic as is so many of her delicious recipes.

Ramadan has come to an end and we would like to wish happy Eid to all Muslim brothers & sisters.  We hope everyone got to make the most of this holy and blessed month of Ramadan and was able to purify himself  from sins and evil deeds, inshallah.

We are pleased to announce the launch of the new official site for the charity MuslimHope.org.uk.

Muslim Hope has the ambition to help those in need globally; they aim to deliver aid to victims irrespective of race, religion, nationality or political opinion. Muslim Hope believes that every human being should receive the basic requirements of food, water, health care, shelter and education, but presently their projects are situated in Pakistan as they feel they should focus on helping victims of the recent flooding disaster which has devastated millions of people’s lives.

We were able to provide them with a brand new CMS site equipped to make online donations, we know it is really important for online charities to have certain features such as the online donation box prominent where it is easy for the eye to catch and as user friendly as possible so we tried to implement this as much as possible, for more information about charity design check out this post Showcase Of Muslim Charity Websites.

Our team today celebrates the launch of another site, we designed, developed & currently also hosting the official site of Jamatia Islamic Centre, (JIC) which is situated here, in the heart of Birmingham.

JIC was first founded in the late 1970’s, it’s gone through several phases of development eventually progressing to one of many iconic buildings known to the local Muslim Community. Despite this remarkable progress Mashallah, the JIC is still striving to grow as a Centre of excellence & Islamic Studies, offering vital services & catering for the religious, social & spiritual needs of Muslims living in the west.

And what better way of doing this than with their first official website with built in CMS where they are able to regularly upload and announce latest news & events, upcoming courses & talks. It’s an ideal platform of communication to their growing community and we wish them all the best with it inshallah.
